Ecuador's Chiva

Ecuador's farmers use the "Chiva" (junk.....) to bring their goods to the market. Though their numbers have dwindled, they can still be found, especially in the jungle areas. They are so well known that they have even become a tourist attraction and are used for evening sightseeing in the capital Quito as "La Chiva Quiteña". A local orchestra on the roof of the bus takes care of the necessary noice and makes sure the bus with innocent tourists does not go by unnoticed. The local brew that is handed out during the trip increases the "we are in a good mood feeling". An old, typical, Ford is seen here preparing for this trip. A similar, but smaller vehicle parked in the town of Cuenca shows the general layout of this model.
