A Short History of Superior
|
The Superior Motor Coach Body Company began building buses in Lima, Ohio in 1923. In 1925 they
started building funeral service vehicles. They changed their name in 1940 to The Superior
Coach Company. In 1969, Sheller Globe Corporation of Toledo, Ohio aquired The Superior Coach
Company. In the mid-1980s, Superior ceased production of buses in Lima, but licensed the
Superior name to Delmar Keyes of Chickasaw, Oklahoma. That venture which produced those boxy,
weird looking buses only lasted a year or two. Superior still makes funeral vehicles in Lima.
