Iwasaki Group

Kagoshima Kotsu, Hayashida Kotsu, Osumi Kotsu, an Yakushima Kotsu
Iwaski Group is the owner of four bus operators in Kagoshima Prefecture: Kagoshima Kotsu, Iwasaki Bus Network (formerly Hayashida Kotsu), Osumi Kotsu, and Sanshu Kotsu.

Kagoshima Kotsu is a regional bus operator that has routes covering the entire southern half of Kagoshima prefecture. They operate local city routes, local intercity routes, rural routes, airport limousine services, school services, and charter services in Kagoshima prefecture, and regional intercity coach routes throughout the island of Kyushu.

Kagoshima Kotsu operates approximately 400 buses. The variety of vehicle types is remarkable. They operate everything from vans to double deck coaches. All Japanese makes and most models are represented. Many buses are older than the fleets in the bigger cities as some are bought second-hand.

Hayashida Kotsu was an old operator that was bought by Iwasaki. It operates in the city and to the north of Kagoshima City. Osumi and Sanshu were spun off from kagoshima Kotsu. In 2008, Hayashida Bus was renamed Iwasaki Bus Network.

Kagoshima, located at the southern tip of Japan, is most famous for its close proximity to Sakurajima, one of the most active volcanoes in the world. The climate is subtropical, and the land is fairly mountainous. The city of Kagoshima itself has a population of approximately 500,000.
